Why: For its succulent, deep purple foliage (this upright, sturdy plant is an offspring of the elegant S. ‘Matrona’). Bright pink blooms in late summer/early fall attract butterflies and combine well with dwarf reblooming daylilies. Seed heads provide food for wildlife and winter interest.
Size: 60 cm tall by 35 to 45 cm wide
Cultivation: Prefers full sun and well-drained, slightly lean soil. Prune in spring when new growth appears; divide plants every three or four years. This good-natured, easy-to-grow plant is very drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Zone 3
